Michael Dean Shaw

Michael Dean Shaw, 61, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on June 29, 1946 in Topeka, the son of Nova V. and Gladys Hacker Shaw. He was a life long Topeka resident. Michael was employed by Blackburn Nursery for 35 years and was presently employed by Schmidtlein Excavating Company for the past nine years. Michael was married to Darlene Whitmore on December 8, 1964 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Billy (Gina) Shaw and Robert (Gere) Shaw of Topeka, one grandson, Robert M. "Bobby" Shaw of Topeka and his mother, Gladys Shaw of Topeka, one sister, Deborah Campbell, five brothers, Bud, Donald, Jerry, Larry and David all of Topeka and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Theodore Hacker and one sister, Cora Gutchinritter. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave. Inurnment will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery in Newman, KS at a later date. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Michael Dean Shaw Memorial Fund c/o Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608.
