Michael D. Campbell

October 4, 1950 — January 6, 2023

Michael D. Campbell, 72, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Alma Manor Nursing Home.   He was born on October 4, 1950 in Topeka the son of Raymond and Mildred Phillips Campbell.  He was raised at Overbrook and graduated from high school there.

He was married to Deborah A. Shaw on March 27, 1970 in Topeka.

Michael started his career at the flour mill in Topeka in 1970, working for Horizon Milling, Seaboard Allied Milling and finally, Cargill.  He retired at the mill in 2011 when it closed.

To neighbors, co-workers, and friends of his kids, he was known as Mr. Mike.  Neighbors also called him “Yard Man”, because of his constant care for the yard at the family home.    He was an avid bow hunter, loved the outdoors.   Mike and Deborah enjoyed going to Branson several times a year.  He was a simple man.   He enjoyed barbequed ribs, home style cooking, and the Fourth of July.    Mike was happy if he knew his family and friends were also happy.  He enjoyed helping others, and would drop whatever he was in the middle of to lend a helping hand. He greatly enjoyed his grandkids and great grandkids following his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Campbell of Topeka; daughter, Cora Munoz and husband Manuel; two grandchildren, Shannan Qualls and Brady and John Munoz and Jordan all of Topeka; and great grandchildren, Lincoln Qualls and Liam Qualls.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Davidson Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Kansas Alzheimer’s Association.   www.davidsonfuneral.com
