Merle E White

Merle Edward White, 79, of Topeka, passed away March 7, 2023.  Merle was born December 11, 1943, in Topeka, the son of Woodrow and Violet (Massey) White.  Merle attended Seaman Schools and graduated in 1961.  Following graduation Merle joined the Army Reserves as a medic.  He worked for Southeastern Ice Company, Volume Shoe, Payless ShoeSource, Grandma Hoerner’s and Westlake ACE Hardware. He loved to take walks with his dogs, he enjoyed everything Christmas, spending time with his family, coaching his kid’s basketball teams and working in his yard.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Hubert, and his infant son Randy Wilson White.

He married Linda (Robinson) White in 1966, they later divorced.  Merle married Billie Jo Sciumbato October 17, 1987.

Survivors include his wife; Billie Jo White, daughter, Rachelle (Gary) Fangman, son, Gregg (Christina) White, daughter, Toni Jo Sciumbato, son, Tony (Katie) Sciumbato, Sister in-law, Carolyn White, brother, Larry (Nancy) White, grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Brandon) Stitt, Madison Fangman, Jonna White, Jordyan Messenger, Jadyan Messenger, Jayse-Michael Messenger, Jerzey Jo Tripp,  Ahnna Sciumbato, and Aylah Sciumbato; great grandchildren Nolan Stitt, Ryan Stitt and River Snowden.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 10 ^th at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 North Kansas Ave, Topeka, Kansas  66608. Merle was a devoted KU fan. The family would enjoy everyone to wear your favorite Kansas University Jayhawk, or Chiefs attire.
