Merle G. Sewell, 81, Topeka, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 11, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born June 29, 1923 in Sutton, Nebraska the daughter of Edward H. and Vero W. Lange Spangler.
She graduated from Sutton High School in 1942. Mrs. Sewell worked as an office manager for Trinity Insurance Company for 30 years. She was a member of Country Acres Harvest Church, Helena Chapter #210 O.E.S., Topeka High School Historical Society, North Topeka V.I.P., and Santa Fe Old Timers. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and had many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers Franklin Spangler and Robert Spangler
She married Virgil M. Sewell Sept. 26, 1946 in Topeka, KS he survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Jane Robertson and her husband Paul, Berryton; three brothers, Lawrence Spangler, Baltimore, MD; Harlan Spangler, Omaha, NE; Allen D. Spangler, Sutton, NE; one sister, Violet McCaffrey, Duluth, MN; grandson, Ryan Robertson, Olathe, KS and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2005 at Country Acres Harvest Church. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Sewell will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
