Melvin L. Manis, 85, of Topeka, passed away, Friday, April 20, 2007 at Midland Hospice House,Topeka.
He was born April 1, 1922 in Soldier, Kansas the son of Evertt and Lena Reed Manis.
Mr. Manis was employed by Cargill 42 years retiring in 1987. He was a military veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II and was in the battle at Normandy Beach.
Melvin married Mary R. Myers May 3, 1952. She survives. Other survivors include his sons, Kenneth L. Manis, Topeka; Bradford Manis, Topeka; Michael Manis, Topeka, Terry Manis, Topeka; Donald Manis, Ohio; brothers, Wayne Manis, Topeka; Marvin Manis, Meriden, 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Manis will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening.
