Melvin D. Falley, 82, Topeka, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Midland Hospice House. He was born June 9, 1922 in Topeka, the son of Joseph D. and Goldie M. Currier Falley, Sr. Mel is a 1941 graduate of Seaman High School. He retired in 1964 after 24 years in the United States Navy. He worked in nursing home administration for 30 years, working at Americana Nursing Centers which is now Manor Health Care. He was administrator for 15 of those years and 15 years as a regional director. He carried state licenses in Illinois, and Florida. Melvin married Lucille L. Hylt, Oct. 30, 1948 in Topeka, she survives. Mr. Falley is preceded in death by his father and a sister. Survivors include one daughter Bonnie M. Bury, Chenoa, IL, Mother, Goldie M. Falley, Manhattan, Grandchildren, Jessica Ellen Bury, Michael Steven Bury, both of Chenoa, IL; four brothers, Lewis Falley, Alma; Wayne E. Falley, Golf Port, MS, Joe D. Falley, III, Manhattan; George Falley, Manhattan, four sisters, Maxine Graziano, Wichita; Mary Frost, Topeka; Della Thomas, Manhattan; Waunetta Mackender, Manhattan. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by a U.S. Army Ft. Riley Funeral Detail. Mr. Falley will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund 731 SW Buchanan Topeka, KS 66606.
