Melissa Rae Addington

March 12, 1978 — January 8, 2022

Melissa (Missy) Rae (Hatch) Addington passed away at home on January 8, 2022 surrounded by her family. For 3 months she battled an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, following an extended evaluation of unexplained back pain.

Missy is the daughter of Leonard Hatch Jr. and Sandra Forgy and she was born on March 12, 1978. She attended North Fairview Elementary, Logan Jr. High and Seaman High School, graduating in 1996. On December 1, 2001 she married Branden J. Tice-Addington, and they share 2 children, Hanna and Colten, both of the home.

She is survived by her loving husband, Branden; children, Hanna and Colten; mom, Sandy (Sherman) Forgy; her dad, Leonard Hatch Jr.; sister, Shelly (Larry) Noriega; nephew, Nick Noriega; brothers-in-law, Clayton Tice, Levi (Jessica) Addington, Dustin Addington, and Dustin Hollenbeck; sister-in-law, Casey Addington; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins; in-laws, Peggy Tice, Milton Hinrichs, Rusty and Crystal Addington.

Missy was a dedicated wife and mother and was the center of the family unit. She was an organizer of all things family, from juggling many sports and school events for her kids, social schedules for the family and managed the household through 2 military deployments. Missy worked for Blue Cross in Topeka for about 14 years, most recently as an executive assistant. She graduated from Washburn University in 1999 with an associate degree. She was a member and alum of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
In 2015 she received the Molly Pitcher Award for her dedicated support of military service.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 16, 2022, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Parker-Price Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022, 11:00 am at the Parker-Price Funeral Home followed by private family inurnment.

Memorial contributions may be made to the 'Melissa Addington Memorial Fund' for the future needs of her children, Hanna and Colten or to the 'Johns Hopkins University' and sent in care to Ralph H. Hruban, M.D.Johns Hopkins Hospital, 600 N. Wolfe Street, Carnegie 417 Baltimore, MD 21287.
