Maxine E. Trefethen, 82, Topeka, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at a local hospital.
Maxine was born November 28, 1934 in Wichita, the daughter of Elias W. and Edith V. (Fender)
Tice. She graduated from Wichita North High School.
She was employed by the Wichita Eagle-Beacon, Topeka Public Library, and later for the Department of Revenue, State of Kansas for over 10 years.
She was a charter member of Northern Hills Baptist Church.
Maxine married Wayne Richard Trefethen on August 2, 1952 in Wichita. He died August 4, 1985. Survivors include daughters, Brenda (Robert) Casper, Teresa (Stephen) Crumpler, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Heather (Brandon) Moon, Jamie (Desarae) Moon, Jonathan (Michelle) Crumpler, Nicholas (Jayde) Casper, Robert (Samantha) Crumpler; great-grandchildren, Arrianna, Kade, Aleah, Madison, Katlynn, Carly, Ashbie, Amelia; honorary great-grandchildren, Camrin, Jourdyn and Baileigh; and brothers, Floyd Tice, Gary (Sue) Tice; sister, Donna (Bud) Carnall; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lee Tice; sister, Dorothy Baker; sister-in-law, Mary Tice; and brother-in-law, Melvin Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Northern Hills Baptist Church, 920 NW 62nd. Burial will follow at Half-Day Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence.
