Maxine Spencer, 92, of Topeka, passed away at Autumn Home Plus on December 16, 2020.
Maxine was born on June 12, 1928 in, Richland, Texas. Daughter of Elmer and Lola Mae McGaugh Mayo.
She married Ralph Waldo Spencer on August 10, 1946 in Mount Belvue, Texas. He preceded her in death October 12, 1997. She graduated from Mount Belvue High School as Valedictorian, and was the fasted typist in her class.
Her and her family owned Spencer's Riding Academy in Big Springs, Kansas. She eventually moved to Topeka, and worked at Kinder Care Daycare, where she later retired. When she moved to Topeka, she started collecting dolls. Her family and friends contributed to her collection over the years. She was a part of the Order of Rainbow for Girls in Cedar Bayou, Texas.
She enjoyed watching birds and squirrels through her window when they would come and grab food from the feeder. She loved to write. Maxine started writing in a diary when she was little and it grew to become something she did every day. She documented all the exciting things that happened to her throughout the day. From family or friends that would come visit her, to milestones that she accomplished.
Maxine is survived by her two daughters, Judy McClelland of Silver Lake, KS and Lynda (Norbert) Flieg of Arkansas; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; both of her parents; son, Ralph Eugene Spencer; brother, Joe Gene Mayo; and sister, Myra Mae Gunter.
Maxine will lie in state at Parker Price Funeral Home, Monday, December 21, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m.
Grave side service will be Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Big Springs Cemetery.
