Maxine Silversmith

Maxine Faye Silversmith, 87, of Topeka, died Oct. 26, 2009 at Midland Hospice House. She was born on Feb. 19, 1922 in Newman, KS, the daughter of Thomas and Rhetta Hodges (North). She was a member of Sullivan United Methodist. Maxine married James Clifford Marsh on October 16, 1939, he preceded her in death. She then married Ted Silversmith on Sept. 16, 1948. Ted preceded her in death in 1975. Also preceding was sister Virginia Martin. Survivors include two sons: Ron Marsh (Linda) and Doug Silversmith, both of Topeka, daughter Lorelei Godfrey of Sydney, Australia, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Donna Garrett of Topeka, brother E.L. "Pete" Hodges, sister Velma De Plois, both of Bartlesville, OK. and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment in Rochester Cemetery. Maxine will lie in state after 3:00 pm Wednesday, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
