Maxine Hogan, 93 of Topeka passed away on July 9, 2018. She was born in Topeka one of eleven children to Lloyd and Edna Barnes Price. She was a lifelong Topekan. She attended Lakeview Church of the Nazarene for many years. She loved to dance, and especially enjoyed the Big Band Sound like the Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Orchestras. She won many dance competitions in her day. She liked to watch Dancing with the Stars and enjoyed expressing her thoughts on the dancers she would watch and their skill or lack of. Old classic movies with stars like the adorable Shirley Temple were her favorites. Maxine loved to shop with her daughter Cookie. They would go shopping at least once a week to get more clothes and shoes. She married her husband, Derald Hogan on June 1, 1942 at the home of her Aunt Fannie in Topeka. Mr. Hogan entered the Army soon after their wedding to participate in World War II and fought in the Philippines.
Survivors include her daughter Glenda (Cookie) Guilfoil and husband Richard of Topeka; grandchildren, DeeDee Colahan and husband Rick of Topeka and son Rick Guilfoil and wife Beth of Shawnee, Kansas; and seven great grandchildren.
Maxine was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS. Inurnment will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to “Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene”.
