OBITUARY: Max Wayne Taylor
Max Wayne Taylor, 76, Topeka, died Mon., Sept. 21, 2009, at his home. He was born May 30, 1933, in Topeka, the son of Ollie J. and Hazel I. (Johnson) Taylor. Max graduated from Topeka High School in 1951, and served in the U.S. Army 1953-55. He was a member of the Carpenters' Local and worked for Rinner Construction Co. and other local contractors. He was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church and the Topeka Genealogical Society. He was an active volunteer who donated many hours to his church; Meals on Wheels; and Fellowship, Inc. He also was a regular blood donor and gave nearly 13 gallons in his lifetime. Max was married to Carolyn R. Pollom on Dec. 10, 1953, at Oakland Methodist Church. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons: Kerry M. Taylor (Sheri) of Topeka, and Thomas A. Taylor (Patti) of Topeka; 3 daughters: Patty A. Maine (Dave) of Shawnee, Pam A. Denman (Tom) of Topeka, and Lisa K. Taylor (Ismael Rivera) Topeka; a brother: Rex D. Taylor (Ollie) of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wed., Sept. 23, 2009, at Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment in Topeka Cemetery. Max will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
