Matt Mize, 51, of Hoyt, passed away on November 9, 2022.
Matt was born on October 31, 1971 to Donald and Carole (Gruetze) Mize at Topeka, Kansas. His mother always claimed he was her favorite Halloween treat.
Matt earned his Registered Nursing License in 2020, proving it's never too late to further your education. He was a RN/Charge Nurse at Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital and worked for over 25 years in the healthcare industry. He was a very dedicated nurse who enjoyed caring for his patients.
Matt enjoyed watching KU basketball, KC Chiefs, KSU football, casino adventures, spending time with family, complaining about but completing honey do lists, watching his favorite TV shows, catching up on recorded sporting events he'd missed and loving the fast forward option to avoid commercials, and rocking out to his favorite oldies. He was especially proud of his renovations at the MK Ranch. Most important to him was spending every available minute with Karen.
Matt is survived by his loving Fiancé, Karen Woelk; his Mother, Carole Purdum; Brother, Michael (Valerie) Mize; 4 Step-Children, 6 Step-Grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Parker Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
Per Matt's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
