Mary Wilhelmina Weston, 86, Topeka, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at a local care center.
Mary was born June 27, 1937 in Columbus, KS the daughter of Leland and Lela Viola (Gatewood) Gilliland. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1955 and attended Ft. Scott Community College and Topeka Technical School.
She was employed by the State of Kansas as a Secretary for the Alcohol Beverage Control, the Department of Revenue, and Kansas Neurological Institute, retiring in 1999 after 30 years of service.
She was a member of Northland Christian Church, T.A.R.C, Loving Hearts and Exploring Life.
She enjoyed listening to music, sewing, quilting, but primarily spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family trips were enjoyed going to Disney World, Caribbean cruises and the Hawaiian Islands.
Mary married Kenneth Weston, Sr. on June 11, 1966 in Columbus. He died October 8, 2010. Survivors include daughter, Kim (Lester) Sipp; son, Leland (Jolene) Weston; grandchildren, Megan (Alex) Brohaugh, Rachel (Brandon Catlin) Zeller, Michael Zeller, Adam Weston, Aaron Weston; great-grandchildren, Kaden Brohaugh, Jaxon Brohaugh, Arya Catlin; and sister, Jewel Shanks. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Weston, Jr.; grandson, Ronald Zeller; and siblings, Richard Gilliland, Ruth York, Glenn Brooner, Mabel Wigton, Mildred Wigton, Aileen Ford, Doris Phillips, Howard Brooner, and Newel Brooner.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Northland Christian Church. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. A reception will be held prior to the visitation at the Parker-Price Reception Center from 3:30-5:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Exploring Life, 1815 SW Fairlawn, Topeka, KS 66604 or Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka, Topeka, KS 66617.
