Mary "Leona" Tillman, 84, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 Aldersgate Village, Topeka.
She was born November 24, 1928 in Eskridge, Kansas, the daughter of Lee D. and Mary M. (Rush) Yoning. She was 1946 graduate of Wamego High School, Wamego, KS and a graduate from Clark's Business College in Topeka.
Mrs. Tillman was employed by National Council of Comp Insurance for 17 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Elmont United Methodist Church.
Leona married John Tillman on April 30, 1947 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2000. Survivors include three children, Don (Nancy) Tillman, Topeka, Sharon (David) Stice, Olathe and Terry (Ginger) Tillman, Silver Lake; four grandchildren, Tavis (Doreena) Stice, Minooka, IL, Cody Stice, Olathe, Austin Tillman, Topeka and Ashley Tillman, Lenexa; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Scott and Julie; two brothers, George (Annis) Yoning, Mountain Home, AR and Robert Yoning, Onaga, KS; and a step-sister, Marna, Onaga, KS.
A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Leona will lie in state after 3 p.m., Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elmont United Methodist Church, 6635 NW Church Lane, Topeka, KS 66617 or Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St #100, Topeka, KS 66614.
