Mary Louise Smith, 73, of Topeka passed away on October 19, 2020 at Plaza West in Topeka. Mary was born July 1, 1947 in Renovo, PA the daughter of Charles and Esta Barr Desmond. Mary moved with her family at a young age to Tucson, AZ. She came to Topeka where she received her schooling. She was a homemaker. She was very crafty, enjoyed knitting, crochet, needle point and embroidery. She was an avid reader of the bible. Mary loved Christmastime, enjoyed Mexican food, and loved her little Pug. After moving to Plaza West, she became somewhat of a social butterfly. She enjoyed her time at Plaza West.
She was married to Delmar Smith in 1973. Delmar survives. Other survivors include her children, Charles Smith and wife Ronny in Netawaka, KS and Esta Christine Smith of Topeka; grandchildren, Lela, Rhanna, Maya, Jayde, Kenny, Danny and Katie. Other survivors include her brother, Michael Desmond and wife Jan of Ozawkie, Kansas; sisters, Diann Moore of Topeka, Sally Hintze and husband Ron in Wausau, Wisconsin and Donna Desmond of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol Ann Brenneman; and a brother, Thomas Desmond.
A celebration of life will be held at the Woodshed in North Topeka on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
