Mary Elizabeth Pagel

Mary Elizabeth Pagel, 90, of Hoyt, passed away on Wednesday, April 19 ^th , 2023. Mary was born on September 27 ^th , 1932 to George Edward & Zadelle Mary (Fletcher) Penry in Hoyt, Kansas. She attended North Star Grade School & Rising Sun One Room Country Grade School. In 1950, she graduated from Hoyt High School.

Mary was a bookkeeper& statistician for Crosby Bros. Department Store for 25 years, from 1950 to 1975. In 1975, Mary went to work as a bookkeeper at Acme Radio Supply in Topeka until 1997, when she retired. On July 25 ^th , 1954, Mary married DeVerne Dean Pagel at Hope Lutheran Church in Topeka. They moved to a farm home in Hoyt in 1962. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka.

Preceding Mary in passing is their son, DeVerne Dean Pagel Jr.; three sisters, Dorothy Linder; Lois Ward; and Phyllis McCay; and her brother, Cecil Penry.

Surviving Mary is her husband of 68 years, DeVerne, and her brother in law, Calvin Pagel. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 21 ^st , from 6-8pm at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Avenue in Topeka. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 22 ^nd at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4211 NW Topeka Blvd. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
