Mary Margaret "Peggy" Long
Mary Margaret "Peggy" Long, 96, Topeka, died Friday, December 12, 2014. She was born April 8, 1918, at Truchton, Colorado, the daughter of Joseph Marcellus and Mabel Clair (Chamberlin) Cody.
Peggy was a long-time resident of the Topeka area. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist. She loved to read.
Peggy was married to Vernon Harry Long on January 1, 1946, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1978.
Surviving are three daughters: Marilyn Maddon (James) of Apache Junction, AZ, Carolyn Holliday (Bob) of Ozawkie, and Marty Mavrovich (Art Davis) of Holton; three grandchildren: Robert Lee Holliday II of Tucson, AZ, Susan Holliday Gaschen (Jim) of Meriden, KS, and Randall Mavrovich (Jayme) of Holton; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Private interment of cremains will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's local Salvation Army.
