Mary Lou Hays
Mary Lou Hays, 76, Topeka, died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Midland Hospice House. She was born February 23, 1940, at Rantoul, the daughter of Glenn Edwin and Eunice Mary (Rodgers) White.
She moved with her family to Ottawa in 1943, where she attended school and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1958.
She served in the United States Navy, being stationed at Bainbridge, MD, Olathe Naval Air Station and Corpus Christi, TX.
She was employed by the City of Ottawa Police Department for three years and the State Department of Corrections for six years. She retired from Luce Press Clippings in Topeka having worked there for 17 years.
She married Robert H. Bethell of Pomona, Kansas, on October 24, 1959, at Miami, OK. They later divorced.
She married Larry W. Watson at Topeka, August 6, 1977. He passed away May 7, 1980.
She married Jereld D. Hays of Topeka, at Las Vegas, NV, on February 14, 1982. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include daughters: Glenna Guerrero of Topeka and Sandra K. Abel (David) of Carbondale; two step-sons: Michael D. Hays (Rhonda) of Topeka and John Hays (Angela) of Lawrence; mother-in-law: Virginia Hays of Topeka; six grandchildren: Robin Lutz, Brian Lutz, Dalton Abel, Garrett Abel, Charity Hays, and Jacob Hays; and four great-grandchildren: Betty Ann West, Daishon Lutz, Trevone Lutz, and Sariyah Lutz.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.
Mary will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, from 3:00 to 8:30 PM, Tuesday.
