Mary Ann (Butterfield) King, 80, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Midland Hospice Care.
She was born August 29, 1936 in Topeka, the daughter of Max and Lena Butterfield.
Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of Seaman High School. She worked briefly at McClellans Drug Store and at Duckwalls Drug Store. She then began her 31 year career as Supervisor and Director of Stormont Vail Hospital's Admitting Department.
After retiring in 1994, she worked briefly for the Topeka Presbyterian Manor and Kansas Lighting. She and Lou enjoyed traveling, crafts and spending time with family.
Mary Ann married Lou King on September 15, 1954 in Topeka at the chapel at Forbes Air Force Base. He survives.
Other survivors include 4 daughters, Judy King-Pater (Ryan), Jean Weishaar (Mike), Jackie Collier (Paul) and Joni Hubbard (the late Tom) all of Topeka; 6 grandchildren, Katie Ralston (David Streeter), Anna Lutz (Barry), Sarah Mitchell (Justin), Chris Hubbard, Justin Hubbard and Ami Fife, all of Topeka; 3 brothers, Max Butterfield, Jr, (Barbara) of Kemp, TX, Ed Butterfield (Jane) of Overbrook and Rick Butterfield (Kerry) of Topeka; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, David L. King; two sisters, Peggy Butterfield and Patty Butterfield Ferguson and an infant grandson, Anthony M. Ralston.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka, KS 66608, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, 35th & Menoken Rd.
