Mary C. (Doty) Jay, 84, of Topeka, left her journey of life on June 3, 2023 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born on July 31, 1938 in Topeka. Daughter of Amanda (Long) Turner.
Mary was a graduate of Silver Lake High School, class of 1957. She worked for the VA Hospital, holding many titles, ending with EKG Technician, before retiring in June of 2008, after 48 years of service.
Mary married Vincent C. Jay on August 17, 1958, they later divorced. To this union they had two daughters, Vincy and Vonda.
Mary, lovingly known as "MeeMee", was a lifelong bowler and a member of the Topeka Women's Bowling Association, only stopping for fear of falling, after breaking her hip. She loved the holidays, and would decorate her yard and house with items she collected at thrift stores, estate, and garage sales. Her favorite being Halloween. She would go "all out" in putting her costumes together every year. Mary loved spending time with her friends and family. A women's group of lifelong friends would get together once a month to catch up. Mary was unable to attend in recent years and missed it dearly.
Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she was always interested in what they were doing. She tried to spend as much time as possible with her great grandchildren, but 5 screeching girls, including twins would get the best of her. She will be missed by many.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Vincy Palmer and Vonda (Mick Freeman) McBee; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kayla) Brown, Eric Palmer, Zac Palmer, Valory Palmer; great grandchildren, Summer Brown, Stormie Brown, Alexis Hamilton, Mallory Brown, and Adriana Brown; siblings, Ramona (Ken) Madison and Melvin Turner; ex husband, Vincent C. Jay; and her loving dog, Katie
She was preceded in death by her mother; her brother, Raymond Wagner; and her companions, Joe Paletta and Curtis Sturgeon.
