Mary Opal Hoover

Mary Opal Hoover, 91, Topeka, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Manor Health Care Services in Topeka. She worked at Morrell Packing Co. for several years. She was employed most of her working years in medical and dental offices. She retired in 1977. She was born Feb. 25, 1912, in rural Coffey County near old Strawn, the daughter of John S. and Grace Leedy Hoover. She moved to Burlington in 1929 and in 1931, moved to Topeka to attend business school. She was preceded in death by her father, in 1923; her brother, in 1955; and her mother, in 1960. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Miss Hoover will lie in state after 3 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Topeka Senior Center, 1114 S.E. 10th, Topeka, 66607.
