Mary Ellen Godsey, loving wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother 82, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday September 26, 2017, with her devoted husband, Dale, at her bedside.
She was born November 9, 1934 in Kidder, MO, the daughter of the late Ray F. and Willie Arlene (nee Martin) Corbin
Mary Ellen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star serving faithfully for 54 years, the Rebekah's IOOF, Grand Ladies Encampment Auxiliary (GLEA) IOOF, Department Association Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant (DALAPM) IOOF, Odd Fellows IOOF, and the Social Order of Beauceant.
She is survived by her husband Dale E. Godsey and brother Harold Corbin of Manhattan, IL
She is also survived by sons Charles (Charlotte) Sherman of Topeka, Roger Sherman of Lathrop, Mo, step-son Leo (Brenda) Perry of Topeka, her grandchildren Allen Sherman of Liberty, MO, Daniel Sherman of Maryville, MO, Christopher Sherman of Louiville, KY, Brigitte (Dustin Pieschl, of Meriden KS, Brandon (Stephanie) Perry and Shawn (Megan) Perry both of Topeka, Coltin Smith and Callie Smith, both of Albany, MO, and Riley Hagan of Lathrop, MO; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Floyd Corbin and Gene Corbin.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 29 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow the service at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery 6th and Gage, Topeka, KS
