Mary Edna Carter, 90, El Mirage, AZ, died December 29, 2012 at a Peoria, AZ Hospice.
She was born April 19, 1922 in Topeka, KS. the daughter of John & Mamie Wallace. She had lived in Sun City, Peoria and El Mirage for the last 14 years, and prior to that in Topeka, KS. Her husband, Roy L. Carter preceded her in death on July 26, 2002 after 46 years of marriage. They were married on May 16, 1956, in Topeka, KS.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael D Lee in 1974 and Jamie Luthi in 1994. Survivors include four Sons, Bill McDaniel, Arlington, TX, Wayne Wells, Zephyrhills, FL, David Lee, Cottage Grove, OR, and Mike Carter, El Mirage, AZ; three Daughters, Shirley Lee, Peoria, AZ, Maxine Wells, Lompoc, CA and Bonnie Luthi,Zephyrhills, FL; 14 grandchildren 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at the Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Mary will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Arizona, 12740 North Plaza del Rio Blvd, Peoria, AZ 85381.
