Mary Ann Smith, 84, Topeka, formerly Silver Lake, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018.
She was born September 6, 1933, in Elkhart, Texas, the daughter of Alvie and Tressie (Rutledge) Scott. She graduated from Palestine High School in Texas.
Mary Ann worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1989.
She attended Silver Lake United Methodist Church and was a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Mary Ann loved genealogy.
On December 24, 1954, she married Carl Dean Smith in Palestine, TX. He survives. Other survivors include their children: Carl E. Smith, Lees Summit, MO; Bob (Renee) Smith, Topeka; Debbie (Kenneth) Whiteaker, Topeka; Judy (Tom) Sextro, Holton and Susan (Pat) Northrip, Plano, TX; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Schitoskey and Margaret Fleming.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor, Jellison Chapel, 4712 SW 6th Street, Topeka. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Jellison Chapel.
