Marvin Wayne "Curly" Murray
Marvin Wayne "Curly" Murray, 80, Hoyt, died Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Medicalodges-Jackson County. He was born January 2, 1936, at Rossville, the son of Alfred Robert and Ellen Lucile (Myers) Murray.
Marvin spent most of his life in Topeka. He attended Seaman Schools and the Hoyt United Methodist Church; and was a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ, Mayetta Lodge # 393, AF & AM, Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies, and Arab Shriners.
Curly loved farming and raising cattle. He was his granddaughters' # 1 fan at their sporting events. Marvin loved hunting and fishing with his brothers and nephews.
Marvin was married to Shelia Janita (Fink) Clark on April 4, 1998 at Hoyt.
Surviving are his wife: Shelia Murray of the home; daughter: Angela J. Moore of Topeka; a sister: Marcia Harvey of Topeka; a brother: Gary Murray (Sherry) of Topeka; three granddaughters: Jessica Moore of Topeka, Alicia Miller of Coppras Cove, TX, and Kelsey Moore of Topeka; and two great-grandchildren: Jaxon Mercer and McKinlee Ketter. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Roy Murray, Marlene Case, and Frankie Murray.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, followed by Masonic Services conducted by Mayetta Lodge # 393, AF & AM. Interment will be in Half-Day Cemetery, Elmont.
Marvin will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
