Marvin Hoffman

Marvin L. Hoffman, 81, Topeka died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Midland Hospice House. He was born January 6, 1924 in Halstead, Kansas the son of William "Babe" and Ida Belle Dawson Hoffman.
Marvin was a member of Willard Baptist Church, Jimmy Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion, Philip Billard Post #1650 of the V.F.W.
He served in the U.S. Army. Marvin played for many years in his band Marvin Hoffman and the Sage Brush Boys.
He married LaVerne Adkins July 3, 1948 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Kay Oller, Pam Richey and her husband Harold, sons, Marvin Hoffman, Jr. and his wife Sherri, Bill Hoffman and his wife Coy, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Rich Deiter, Megan Richey, Kim Miller, Traci and Jasen Hoffman, Jarod Wright, Lacey and Brady Hoffman, great grandchildren, Colton and Ashlyn Miller.
Marvin was preceded in death by a brother, William Hoffman, Jr.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel 245 NW Independence Ave. Interment will be in Dover Cemetery.
Mr. Hoffman will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
