Marvin Gene Hansford, 82, of Topeka, passed away on September 30, 2020 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
He was born in Topeka, KS, on May 16, 1938, the son of Terry and Viola (Kemp) Hansford.
Marvin worked as a mechanic for Dupont and Goodyear.
On August 24, 1956, Marvin married Julia Atchison, they were married for 39 years when Judy passed in May of 2006.
He was a Shriner at the Arab Temple, and a member of ABATE, Eastern Star, and the Masons.
Marvin enjoyed his large family, coaching all of children in baseball, and racing motorcycles and cars. He loved taking motorcycle trips with Judy and friends. Marvin also had a love for attending auctions, spending time in the great outdoors – hunting, fishing, taking the boat to Perry Lake, farming, and raising animals. Marvin and his sister Ora Mae were very close knit, and raised their families on adjoining farms.
Marvin taught his children how to ride motorcycles, they have many memories of watching him ride.
Marvin was a father figure to everyone that he came into contact with. He was a good ol' country boy, an advisor and a friend; he loved everyone he knew.
Marvin is survived by his loving children, Vickie (Robert) Earwood, Sheryl Hansford, Mike Hansford, David (Rita) Hansford, Debbie Hansford, and Marvin Hansford, Jr.; 18 grand-children; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Rodenback; nephews, Ray Moritz, Shane Moritz, and Vince Bateman; many more nephews and nieces; and wife, Shirley Vignary Hansford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Viola Hansford; brothers, Clarence, Harland, Richard, and Clifford Hansford; sisters, Mary Rinn, and Ora Bateman; and niece Naomi Moritz.
Marvin fought the good fight for 3 years, and is now reunited with his high-school sweetheart, Judy. They're reunited and going for a long a motorcycle ride.
A private family burial will be held.
