Marvin D. Cairns, 67, of Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2005 while baling hay. He was born Aug. 24, 1937 in Greenleaf, KS, the son of Melvin and Huldah Crain Cairns.
Marvin graduated from Greenleaf High School. He served in the Air Force for four years. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a supervisor for 26 years. He worked at Knoll Patient Supply for ten years. He was a member of Northland Christian Church.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert Cairns and John Cairns.
Marvin married Charlotte A. Samsel, Sept. 30, 1956 in Greenleaf, KS. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Robbie Cairns, Blue Springs, MO; Mel Cairns, and Jay Cairns, both of Silver Lake; two daughters, Pam Albin, Boulder City, NV; and Jodi Maryott, Maple Hill; two brothers, David Cairns, Topeka; and Stanley Cairns, Greenleaf, KS; sixteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2005 at Northland Christian Church. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Cairns will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
