Martin J. Moyer, 77, of Topeka, KS, passed away March 8, 2009.
Martin was born July 23, 1931 in Corning, Kansas to Clyde and Matilda (Tompson) Moyer. He was a 1949 graduate of Centralia High School and later attended Washburn University. Martin served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage in 1963 to Thelma Johnson. Martin retired after over 30 years of service from the bridge construction industry. He was a member of the Combat Air Museum, American Legion, VFW, and he attended Southwest Christian Church.
Martin is survived by his four children; John (Rita) Moyer of Topeka, James Johnson of Topeka, Rosemary (Bill) Selfridge of Branson, MO, and Doris (Richard) Trosper of Westville, OK, 11 grandchildren; Glen Whittington of Kansas City, MO, Bill Whittington of Westville, OK, Kathy (Brian) Frost of Topeka, Susan (Jeff) Howard of Bremen, KS, Shanna Rose (Luke) Redington of Manhattan, KS, Joe Martin, Tony Martin, and Willie Selfridge, all of Branson, MO, and Scott, Mark, and Beth Trosper, 11 great-grandchildren; Troy and Leah Frost, Rheba, Greg, Martin, and Augustus Howard, Jake Martin, Chloe Trosper, Zach, Zoe, and Sophie Kelsey, two sisters; Gladys Ward of Topeka, and Marilyn (Raymond) Petry of Centralia, and several nieces and nephews. Martin is preceded in death by his loving wife, Thelma.
Mr. Moyer will lie in state after 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10th, with visitation to follow from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 10:00 am, at the Parker Price Chapel. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
