Martha M. Housh-Barton

Martha Marie Housh-Barton (Hiebsch) passed away in Topeka, KS on May 28, 2024. She was born December 23, 1938 in Oskaloosa, KS the daughter of Leo and Jennie Hiebsch. She was a graduate of Oskaloosa High School, the Jane C. Stormont School of Nursing and Ottawa University. During a nursing career of over forty years she worked at hospitals and supported local doctors in Onaga, Glasco, Topeka and Fairfax, VA, with the majority of her career affiliated with Stormont-Vail Hospital.
She married Russell Housh in 1960. He passed away in 1981. In 1990 she married Ross Barton and they remained together until her passing.

Marie is survived by her husband Ross, sons Roy Housh (Annie and grandchildren Madison and Gabriel) of Cugy, Switzerland and Tony Housh (Agnieszka and grandchildren Antoni and Adam) of Warsaw, Poland. She is also survived by sisters Kathryn and Anne, and her brother Robert along her dear nieces, nephews and families in Kansas and beyond.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Hiebsch and Francis Hiebsch.

Marie is remembered as a wonderful mother, loving wife, caring and much adored grandma, and a compassionate friend and nurse. Taking care of others was her true calling.
There will be no funeral services at her request. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Wise Cemetery, southeast of Winchester, Kansas. A dinner will follow at the Winchester Community Building.
