Mark Shughart, 52, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020.
He was born June 15, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Marlin and Margaret (Lee) Shughart.
He served his Apprenticeship with Local 77 in April of 1987 and became a Journeyman in August of 1991.
Throughout his career, Mark was a Business Manager of Local 77 (July 2004 – August 2005), Business Agent of Local 2 (September 2005 – 2016), Certified Welding Instructor / Inspector for Local 2 and Local 77, Apprenticeship Committee Member for Local 2 and Local 77, and 401k Local 2 Trustee.
Mark worked at Stevenson's, and was currently employed by the P-1 Group in Lawrence as a Sheet Metal Worker. He was looking forward to his retirement and anyone who knew him could tell you that he had 789 days to go.
Mark loved riding on his Harley, being around his friends, family, and dog Bruiser, and especially enjoyed time with his grandkids. Mark didn't know a stranger and will be missed by many.
Mark is survived by his partner, Carla Buschjost; daughter, Kylie Shughart; son, Dustin (Audra) Shughart; grandchildren, Aiden, Grayson, Brynley and Deacon; siblings, Michelle Moore, Michael Shughart and Manuel Shughart. Mark's beloved companion Bruiser passed away shortly after Mark's passing and will be reunited with him when he is laid to rest.
A memorial service will be at 11:00AM Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Parker-Price Funeral Home, with a visitation the hour prior.
