Mark Alan Meinholdt, 68, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 with his loving wife and two sons by his side. He fought a valiant 5 month long battle with cancer.
He was born June 23, 1955, in Aurora, Colorado, the son of John W. and Jean L. (Lovett) Meinholdt. He attended Seaman High School in Topeka, Kansas.
Mark owned and operated the family business, Meinholdt Welding & Machine Shop, in operation since 1923, for 37 years.
Mark married his sweetheart Debi White on June 23, 1972 in Topeka, Kansas, who he shared the same birthdate with. Many of their friends knew of Mark and Debi as the couple that had the same birthday and they were married on their birthday. She survives.
Other survivors include 2 sons, Chad (Lisa) Meinholdt of Omaha, NE, and Craig (Danette) Meinholdt of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Kyle (Arianna) Andersen, Tanner (Abby) Meinholdt, Amanda Meinholdt, Emma Meinholdt, Chase Meinholdt and Hunter Meinholdt; great grandchildren, Kaleb Andersen and Virginia Meinholdt; father, John Meinholdt; and brother, Scott Meinholdt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean (Dale) Harbour, and grandson, Cameron Meinholdt.
Mark enjoyed being involved in the racing community, sponsoring many racers over the years and offering help in many ways that most never saw or knew about. His love for the family business extended to the many customers that remained loyal to Meinholdt Welding over the years, and some of his greatest memories were of the customers that he became friends with. Later in his life, he finished restoring Debi's 1955 Ford pickup truck and they found pure enjoyment in cruising around town and Lake Perry.
Mark's wishes were for cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at The Woodshed, 1901 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66608.
