Marjorie J. Schone

Marjorie J. Schone, 72, Topeka, died Saturday, Dec. 20, at Plaza West Regional Health Center in Topeka. She was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Hoyt, the daughter of George E. and Ruth H. (Stewart) Schone. She had been a Topeka resident all of her life. She graduated from Highland Park High School. Marjorie was a member of East Side Baptist Church, where she was active in the children's ministry. She worked for the state of Kansas as an SRS clerk for 25 years before retiring in 1996. She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ruth Darlene Schone and another sister, Wanda Sylvester. Surviving are a sister, Mary I. Slaybaugh, Lawrence; a brother, Melvin E. Schone, Garland, Texas; an aunt, Dorothy Schone, Topeka; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Hoyt. Marjorie J. Schone will lie in state after 3 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, where the family will rece ive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to East Side Baptist Church Mission Fund, 4425 S.E. 29th, Topeka, 66605-9706.
