Marjorie L. Oathout

Marjorie L. Oathout, age 77, of Silver Lake, KS, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at her home in Silver Lake.  Marjorie was born October 3, 1944 in Topeka the daughter of Lawrence and Elizabeth (Jackson) Wooster.  She graduated from Seaman High School in 1963 where she was a drum major for the marching band.  She was a twirler and taught twirling as well.  She married John D. Oathout, September 20, 1963 in Topeka.  She worked for nearly 30 years for the State of Kansas until her retirement.  Prior to her illness, she was an excellent water skier and enjoyed slalom skiing.  She was a gifted seamstress, even able to make men’s suits.  She was creative, had multiple artistic hobbies and often taught art at vacation bible school.  She was athletic and enjoyed the outdoors and camping with friends and family.  She went on four-wheeler adventures with family and friends until her health no longer permitted.  She was a member of the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband of over 58 years, John D. Oathout; children, Mechele (Scott) Ford; Lisa (David) Oathout-Marshall; Tim (Lisa) Oathout; a brother, Charles (Marilyn) Wooster; a sister, Pat (Gregg) Wooster-Jackson; her uncle, Wes (Joan) Jackson; grandchildren, Tevin (Emily) Rutherford, Eric Marshall, Natalie Ford, David Oathout and Hannah Oathout, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Ford.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  The service will be live-streamed at the Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page.  She will lie in state Friday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Interment will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com
