OBITUARY: Marjorie Marie Cashier DeBacker
Marjorie Marie Cashier DeBacker, 84, Silver Lake died Mon., Feb. 27, 2006 at Midland Hospice House. She was born March 3, 1921 at Delia the daughter of Ira A. and Floy E. (Murrow) Wood. She had lived in the Delia and Silver Lake communities except when she lived in Amsterdam, Mo from 1952 to 1974.
Marjorie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silver Lake; Silver Lake Senior Citizens; Thursday Night Musical Group; and Kansas Old Time Fiddlers and Pickers Assoc.
She was married to John G. Cashier on July 19, 1937 at Holton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1973. Marjorie was married to George C. DeBacker on April 24, 1982 at Rossville. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Merl Wood, Wayne Wood and Stephen Wood.
Surviving are her husband George of the home; 2 sons: Harold W. Cashier and Larry D. Cashier both of Holton; a step-son: Severin N. DeBacker of Topeka; a step-daughter: Laureen L. Bryant of Topeka; 5 sisters: Garnett Lutz, Topeka, Terry Perry, Topeka, Viola "Vickie" Foster, Olathe, Sally Smith, Topeka, and Eva Stout, Spring Hill, FL; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thurs., March 2, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, North Topeka. Interment will be in Delia Cemetery. Mrs. DeBacker will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
