Marjorie Lois Hollenbeck, 80, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008.
She was born April 17, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Emery and Iva (McClain) Robertson. She was a 1946 graduate of TopekaHigh School. She was employed by Sears, Ohio Valley Exchange, and J.C. Penny's all in Topeka.
Marjorie married LaVern "Bud" Hollenbeck on April 30, 1949 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2005. Survivors include her children, James Hollenbeck (Linda) of Merriam, KS, Joyce Holdeman (Don), Roxanne Hubbard and Christine Hollenbeck all of Topeka and Paul Robertson (Jane) of Berryton, KS; her brother, Emery Robertson of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Baum-Carson on January 21, 2006, a grandson, Brad Hollenbeck on October 12, 1996, brothers, Harold and Clyde Robertson and a sister, Audrey Wilson.
Marjorie was an avid quilter. She made quilts for her children, grandchildren, and others. She displayed her quilts at the Mid-America Fair in the 1960's receiving nine winning ribbons including the 1969 Sweepstakes Ribbon. Her other enjoyments included reading, cross-word puzzles, fishing and playing Scrabble with her daughters.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment will follow at TopekaCemetery. Mrs. Hollenbeck will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Girl Scouts of America, 7015 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66615.
