OBITUARY: Marjorie L. Beckley
Marjorie L. Beckley went to meet her Savior on Mon., Aug. 16, 2010. She was born July 1, 1922 in Topeka, a daughter of John B. and Mabel (Bennet) Morris. She worked at several Topeka restaurants and for 13 years at Woodland Health Center, retiring in 1982. Marjorie attended East Indianola Grade School and graduated from Seaman High School in 1941. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the WMU of the church; Oakland Rebekah Lodge # 616; and Seaman Alumni Assoc. She married James T. "Jumbo" Beckley of Topeka on Dec. 30, 1941. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1971. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Beckley, plus 2 brothers and a sister. Surviving are 7 children: Alberta Snell (Donald) of Topeka, Arlene Forsyth (Noel) of Willcox, AZ, Delialah Aubert (James) of DeSoto, Catherine Aubert (Leroy Wedsking) of Topeka, Anita Trimble (Otis) of Wichita, Terri Norris (Timothy) of Wichita, and Tommie Beckley of Topeka; a daughter-in-law: Diane Beckley of Overland Park; 2 sisters: Iona Millard of Tecumseh, and Darlene Klamm of Topeka; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Sat., Aug. 21, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Interment in Rochester Cemetery. Marjorie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Fri., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
