Marjorie Ellingboe

Marjorie Ellingboe, 98 was welcomed by the Lord on November 17, 2022 at her home at the Legends at Capital Ridge in Topeka.   Marjorie was the daughter of John and Neva Moore Brown.   She was born in Winfield, Kansas and went to school at Potwin, Kansas, graduating from high school at Conway Springs in 1941.  While in high school she worked at a bank and a soda shop.

She married Eugene Ellingboe in 1942.  After Eugene left to join the army during World War II, she worked at the VA Medical Center in Wichita.   She worked as a dental assistant for several years before going to work for the Social Security Administration.  Marjorie spent most of her working life with the Social Security Administration, first at Hays, Kansas and then in Topeka.

Marjorie and Eugene started their family in Wichita, later in Hays before settling in Topeka.   She was an active member of Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church.   She also was a member of Beta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Epsilon Alpha Sorority, of which she is the last surviving member.   She and Eugene were avid golfers, first in Hays and later at Lake Shawnee in Topeka.   She was also an active volunteer at Ward Meade Park in Topeka.   At the age of 54, Marjorie took up snow skiing, skiing with two of her daughters until she was in her late 70’s.

Survivors include her three daughters, Ann, Sue and Kay.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents and all her siblings.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church.   Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church or to the Topeka Rescue Mission.

Her family will remember her toughness, spunk, her generosity and laughter.
