Marjorie Ann "Marge" House, 87, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009.
She was born November 24, 1921 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of William and Elsie (Cochran) Jones. She was a graduate of Seaman High School, Topeka. Her mother's family was an extended family of two brothers marrying two sisters creating a large group known as the notorious "Cochran Cousins". This group all lived in rural North Topeka and went to school together and attended yearly family reunions that continue to this day over 75 plus years. Marjorie was a child of her times; she earned her pilot license during the war years. She worked for Santa Fe Railroad for several years as a secretary.
She was married to Howard House, Jr. of Uniontown, PA on January 1, 1944 at the age 22. Howard passed away on March 9, 1987 in Topeka, KS and is buried at Prairie Home Cemetery.
Marjorie and Howard had four children that grew up in the Potwin area of Topeka, Daniel House, Shirley McDonald (House), Suzanne House, Sarah Wemple (House).
Daniel House was married and later divorced Cheri England and had two children, Daniel House, Jr. and Sean House. He then married Cheryl House (Fromdahl) who has a son, Scott Packer. Daniel House, Jr. is married to Jennifer House (Perira) who had a daughter, Kayla Perira. Jennifer and Daniel had a baby Alicia House on February 9, 2009.
Shirley McDonald (House) was married to Marvin Scott McDonald, Jr. and had two children, Marvin "Scotty" McDonald, III (deceased June 1, 2005) and Jennifer McDonald. "Scotty" had one child, Michael Verscheldon.
Suzanne House is independently single and likes it that way.
Sarah Wemple (House) was married to Jim Wemple and had two children, Brian Wemple and Laura Wemple.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Interment next to her grandson, Marvin Scott McDonald, III will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
