OBITUARY: Marion Ida Wech-Plagge
Marion passed away Wed., Dec. 2, 2009, at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born March 18, 1921, to Frank & Mary Altmann. Marion was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, MN, where she was a life long member. She attended Lutheran Parochial School and graduated in 1938 from New Ulm Public High School. Marion married Melvin J. Wech on Dec. 7, 1940. Marion & Melvin had one child, Charles M. Wech, born in 1941. She worked at the New Ulm Laundry, J.C. Pennys and then in 1959 went to work at Kemske until her retirement in 1982. Her first husband, Melvin, passed away in 1981. On Dec. 30, 1982, Marion Married Walter Plagge. Walter & Marion resided at Real Life in New Ulm, MN. Walter Plagge passed away in 2001. Marion moved to Topeka, KS in Aug., 2004, to be with her son & family. Marion was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She also loved playing games & cards and spent many years camping and fishing in Minnesota with both her husbands. Marion is survived by son Charles Wech & daughter-in-law Patricia (Topeka); 3 grandchildren: Michael/Lori Wech (Nixa, MO), Christopher/Rinda Wech (Topeka), and Sheri/Larry Gonzales (Topeka); 5 great-grandchildren: Ashley/Andy Belcher, Haley Wech, Zane/Naudia Wech, Joshua/Mariah/Adam Gonzales and a great-great-grandson: Logan Belcher. Marion was preceeded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 PM Sat., Dec. 5, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Interment in New Ulm, MN.
