Marion James "Jim" Griffith, 68, Topeka, after a second battle with cancer entered into peaceful rest Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 surrounded by family.
Marion was born in Osage City, KS on June 4, 1939 the youngest child of Arthur and Florence (Milbradt) Griffith. "Kate" is survived by siblings: Marie, Dale, Thelma, Voyd and Agnes. Preceded in death by his sister, Ethel.
He attended Silver Lake High School.
Jim married his sweetheart, Kathy on August 15, 1959 at Tecumseh, KS. From this union came Cin; Boo; Deb and Dan. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Theresa.
"Griff" worked most of his life as a truck driver. He retired on June 4, 2002 from Payless ShoeSource and was a member of Tecumseh UMC and the Teamsters Local #696.
He is survived by Katheryn, Cindy and Ralph Nelson, Becky and Charles Burgess, Debra and Dan Rukes, Daniel and Jennifer Griffith; eleven much loved grandchildren and great-grandson; and his dearest friends, Bill and Leta Harrell.
His life was filled with laughter, many friends and the love of family. He truly knew no strangers.
A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m., Wed., Feb. 27, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tues., Feb. 26 at the funeral home after which he will lie in state.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Tecumseh UMC or American Cancer Society.
