Marilyn Kay Shepherd

Marilyn Kay Shepherd, 77, of Topeka, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Midland Hospice House. She was born in Topeka, on April 13, 1940, the daughter of Henry Chancy and Wilhilmina Ann (Artzer) Sams.

She graduated from Hayden High School. She worked at Hallmark Cards for 32 years and later for Sagebrush for 5 years.

Marilyn was married to William Raymond Shepherd, Sr. on August 16, 1958, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2003. A son, Thomas Shepherd, preceded her in death on July 10, 2015, and a son-in-law, Gary Taylor, on January 16, 2012.

Surviving are a daughter: Nina Taylor of Topeka; three sons: William Shepherd, Jr. (Debbie) of Topeka, Anthony Shepherd (Leisa) of Topeka, and Michael Shepherd (Tamie) of Delia; siblings: Charles Sams (Phyllis) of Cat Spring, TX, Shirley Blocker of Topeka, and Henrietta "Etta" Mann of Melbourne, FL; twenty grandchildren: Chris Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Colby Taylor, Brian Shepherd, Amber Platt, Darrell Shepherd, Sam Shepherd, Trey Frye, Megan Taylor, Kyle Shepherd, Thomas Shepherd II, Brandon Shepherd, Connor Shepherd, Luke Shepherd, Jordyn Faidley, Steven Austin Balser, Walker Shepherd, Brayden Shepherd, and Tristan Shepherd; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 30, 2018, at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka with cremation to follow. Private interment of cremains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.

Marilyn will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at the Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
