Marie Merrifield, 96, long-time resident of Lake Perry, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. She was born January 9, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland, one of eight children born to Albert Thomas and Myrtle I. Hoover Danley. The Merrifields lived for many years at Lake Perry. Marie worked at Security Benefit Life before retiring. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church in Topeka and had been a member of the Lake Perry Country Club.
She was married to William L. Merrifield on March 8, 1944 in Olathe, Kansas. They were blessed to share over 75 years, before Bill passed away on January 8, 2020.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Merrifield and wife Teresa of Topeka and Craig Merrifield and wife Barbara of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; two daughters, Sherry Johnson and husband Joe of Lawrence, Kansas, and Sandra Wright and husband Marlin of Piggott, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Albert T. Danley and John Robert “Bob” Danley.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Gary.
Private family graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside services can be viewed on a Facebook live event on Davidson’s Facebook page (Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services) at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020. Mrs. Merrifield will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home on Sunday, April 19, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Hospice.
