Marie C. Henriksen, 104, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born March 29, 1914 in Kansas City, Missouri, the adopted daughter of Samuel B. and Florence (Graham) Clark. She spent her early years in Summerfield, Kansas. She moved to Falls City, Nebraska when she was three and completed high school there. She later graduated from Clark's Business College in Topeka. She was married to Christian "Chris" W. Henriksen on October 10, 1933 in Red Oak, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren. She is survived by three children: Neil Christian Henriksen (Maxine), Grand Prairie, Texas, Maren L. Farr (Tom), Topeka and Bruce Henriksen (Saundra Snyder) Topeka; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mrs. Henriksen and her husband Chris owned and operated the Shawnee Creamery for 35 years from 1936 to 1972, the last independent creamery in Kansas. In that capacity she worked as office manager and bookkeeper. They manufactured butter, ice cream and bottled milk and other daily products. Following the closing of the creamery, she worked at Wolf's Jewelers and the Neiswanger Co as bookkeeper. After her retirement, she gradually went back into full time employment with the Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star for 20 years, gradually limiting her hours during the last years.
Marie was an over 60 year faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had served as choir member and in many other capacities. She was an over 75 year active member and Past Matron of Helena Chapter #210, Order of the Eastern Star. She was Past Worthy High Priestess of Trinity Shrine No 7 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and present Worthy Scribe, a member Council No 1, Ancient Toltee Rite, Arab Shrine Nobelles, Arab Antique Car Club, Wah-No-Quah Club, Prime-Timers and the Past Matrons and Patrons Club of Helena Chapter.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS.
