Marie (Jensen) Bailey, 94, of Topeka, KS, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Marie was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe. Her native name is Note-no-quah. She was born August 1, 1929, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Viggo and Mary(Hale)(Pah-kish-ko-quah)Jensen. Marie also had two brothers, Edwin (Waubonsie) Jensen of Mayetta, KS, and Francis(Kitch-kum-me)Jensen of Holton, KS. She lived on the reservation in Mayetta, KS, graduating from Mayetta High School. Marie moved to Topeka, KS after she married Raymond Bailey.
Marie married Raymond Bailey on April 30, 1949, in Mayetta, KS. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2015. Survivors include her children, Daryl (Sheri) Bailey of Mount Dora, FL and Carolyn Bailey of Silver Lake, KS; her grandchildren, William Heptig of Topeka, KS, Blair Heptig of Topeka, KS, and Paul (Michelle) Bailey of Grand Island, FL; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Julia, Jamie, and Josie Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her grandchild, Daniel Heptig.
Marie enjoyed her family and church family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marie was a living example of God's love and kindness. She was prayerful and faithful, always loving and kind. She positively impacted all those who knew her.
A memorial ceremony will be held at Parker Price Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:00am. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service.
