Malisa Ann Kass, 61, of Topeka passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021. She was born on September 21, 1960, in Downey, California the daughter of James Juul and Shirley Jean (Knernschield) Haney. She moved to Kansas in her infancy with her family. Malisa graduated from Highland Park High School. Malisa began working at a young age.
Malisa worked in the state laundry service on the Kansas State Hospital grounds for many years, later taking a position with the Historical Records Center, which she held until she retired. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, woodworking DIY projects, especially ones that involved a hammer, saw or other tools. Malisa assisted with various projects, including building cabinets, decks and remodeling houses. She enjoyed fixer upper shows, Dr. Phil and American Pickers. Malisa loved Mexican food and noodles with butter. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Malisa married Ron on March 28, 2016, spending over twenty years together.
Survivors include husband, Ron Kass, of Topeka; two daughters and a wonderful son-in-law; six siblings, James (Renee) Haney of Topeka, Sharon (Bob) Shepard of Louisiana, Missouri, Teresa Freeland of Topeka, Peggy (Roger) Box of Hoyt, Robert (Kelli) Haney of Topeka, Lori Ploude of Meriden; three grandchildren, Titus, Tyson and Summer; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Haney.
A private family memorial visitation for Malisa will be held at a later date.
