Scott married Mary Darlene Mounts on June 10, 1953, in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Scott's love of aviation and electronics led him to a career in the military. In 1950, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War as a B-29 Radar Mechanic Airborne with the 28th Bomb Squad, 19th Bomb Wing, 20th Air Force, at Kadena AFB, Okinawa. He joined the Kansas Air National Guard in Hutchinson, Kansas, in 1957, and he followed the unit when it relocated to Forbes AFB in Topeka, Kansas. Scott's hobbies included designing, building, and flying u-control and radio control airplanes; antique auto restoration and racing; flight simulation; electronic repair, and cooking. He was a life-long learner and innovator. He loved his country and often engaged in lively conversations about current events.
One of Scott's greatest joys was spending time with his family. His enthusiasm for aviation resulted in time spent building RC and model airplanes with his grandchildren, inspiring some to pursue carriers and hobbies in the aviation industry. Family gatherings at the Mobley home were full of laughter, good food, lively debate, and spirits. Scott gave the best bear hugs, told the best jokes, and had the greatest stories. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
