OBITUARY: Marjorie Jean (Baxter) Dibbern
M. Jean Dibbern, 83, Topeka, passed away Wed., June 3, 2009. She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Wakarusa, the daughter of Carter W. and Violet (Renyer) Baxter. She spent her early years in Wakarusa and graduated from Washburn Rural High School. She moved with her family to Topeka in 1945. She was married to Floyd H. Dibbern on Sept. 10, 1946, at her parents' home in Topeka. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Dibbern, on Sept. 5, 1987; a brother, Warren L. Baxter on July 12, 1980; and her parents.
Mrs. Dibbern was a 50 year plus member of First Presbyterian Church in Topeka. She also belonged to Helena Chapter # 210, Order of the Eastern Star. She retired from the City of Topeka, Finance Department.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Darrell E. Dibbern and daughter-in-law, Gaylene Dibbern, Topeka; three granddaughters, Robin Dibbern, Cleburne, TX; Lindsay Wilson (John), Overland Park; and Ashley Soper (Matt), Topeka; two sisters, Marva Wencil (Jack), Huntsville, AL and Theo Brenner, Overland Park; two great-granddaughters, Lauren Wilson and Ryan Soper.
Services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka, KS, on Mon., June 8, 2009, at 10:00 AM, followed by Eastern Star services conducted by Helena Chapter # 210, OES. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Dibbern will lie in state from 2:00 to 8:30 PM, Sun., at the funeral chapel.
