Mrs. M. Irene Rhodes Schoenfeld, 97, of Topeka, passed away Jan. 12, 2008.
Mrs. Schoenfeld was born August 1, 1910 at Tampa, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel Louis and Ida Elizabeth Jacobs Rhodes.
Mrs. Schoenfeld had lived in Topeka since 1942. She had been a school teacher and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 31 years before her retirement.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church; Shawnee County Republican Women's Club, and the Daughters of Union Veterans Tent #30.
Mrs. Schoenfeld was married to Theron E. Duke on September 21, 1930. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1952. She married Arthur Thomas Schoenfeld on July 15, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1969. Also preceding her in death, brother, Ellis Rhodes and sister, Ruth Borlase.
Surviving are nephews, Tracy Rhodes (Reno,NV); Bob Borlase (Tustin, CA); Rod Borlase (Houston, TX); Brad Borlase (Rhode Island) and nieces, Deborah Stewart and Lisa Borlase-Gehrer, both of Wichita.
Graveside services for Mrs. Schoenfeld are at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, at 1:00p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008.
